Wii!!

As anyone who’s read this blog at all likely knows, I have serious body issues.  My weight is always on my mind, and I do mean always, and though I’d like to lose some of the weight, I’ve not had much success in doing so.  I’ve been talking about getting a Wii Fit, thanks to a recommendation of a friend, but before I do I want to look into every other option.  I don’t have a lot of money, so finding something I can enjoy, that’s cost effective is a big thing for me.

I’ve been looking at fitness equipment and considering a gym membership (there are a few gyms here in town to chose from) and I’ve come to the realization that for what it costs to get a treadmill or elliptical machine, or pay for a gym for a whole year, the Wii and Wii Fit are a better bargain.  Do you know what treadmills cost?!  Even at Wal-Mart, they’re $250+ and the only thing you can do with it is walk.  I could go to a gym, but I’d have to drive over there and work out in public, which are two rather serious problems.  Even if I could get up the motivation to get there, the idea of working out in public makes me want to die of shame and embarrassment.  I simply couldn’t do it.

With the Wii, we could play video games (I’ve been wanting to get Guitar Hero) and I could use it for a work out!  Did I mention we could play video games on it?  Yeah, when you’re a total geek, that wins.  So, sometime in the coming year, we’re probably going to get one.  I played with Amanda & Karen’s Wii and Wii Fit and I had a really good time.  When we got done boxing, my arms hurt for a week.  If it has that affect just once, imagine what I could do with it on a regular basis!  Then, Shawn reminded me that it was out there.  So, I’m getting it!

Bonus that the Wii is totally only $199 now, too!  ;)
