Random bits
I saw something today that got me thinking about my childhood. When we were little girls, the high school in Victorville was selling off a bunch of it’s old classroom furniture. I’m actually not sure but what they were giving it away, now that I think on it. Anyway, my mom went down there and got my sister and I a desk and chair. They were old school classroom furniture, but they were awesome. Very retro!! The desks were a light wood laminate, but the legs were pink and mint green. I loved it! I wonder what happened to those desk and chairs? Sorta weird the things that randomly come to mind.

No…I had to pay a token sum for them but I think it was like $1.50 for each desk and like .75 for each chair…. Then we had to go to the yard where they stored them and pick through to find the best ones…. They were good when you were little…when you out grew them we sold them in a garage sale, because we had bought that bedroom set that had the nice desks and chairs with it. I think I used them for the daycare for a little while though before we sold them. It was actually the elementary school that was selling them off. Funny that you would think of that…I had forgotten all about it. Love You honey!! Mom

That sounds cute! I had an old fashioned school desk when I was a kid — the kind you used to see in one-room school houses, complete with the hole for the bottle of ink! I loved that thing! I don’t know what happened to it, either.

I personally think that is so cool! It’s good that you think of things like that Kristyn! It’s weird how little things like the school desk builds fond memories of your childhood. I have many things in my home that I have “brought back to life” that I remembered from my childhood! I would remember something specific, ask my folks and they would tell me “oh! I remember that! It’s up in the attic!” I would go up there, find it and give it a home.
Totally serious here, I have an old Don Quixote and Sancho Fork & Spoon in my house! If you don’t know what those are, back in the 60′s / 70′s, everyone, EVERYONE had a Don Quixote fork and spoon in their kitchen! I found them, restored them and now they proudly hang in my formal dining room! Brings back MANY memories of being a kid!
Hugs!!
