Only at Wal-Mart

Matt and I were in Wal-Mart a few days ago, which is always a fiasco. We had a cart full of groceries, got to the check out, and it was there that I nearly caused a scene! The Hispanic woman in front of us had four small kids, two of which were screaming bloody murder. Did she try to shut the up? No, she thought it was cute, she was actually giggling at them. She didn’t speak a word of English, she had her cart full of groceries seperated into three different transactions, which she was paying for with varying types of payment (Lonestar Card, cash, & credit). It took her forever! Then, to make the whole thing worse, she insisted on using those blue wal-mart reusable grocery bags, the ones made out of canvas… and she didn’t have enough, but wouldn’t take plastic bags.

Okay, not I’m all for environmentalism and green shopping, but come on! If you don’t have enough, take the plastic bags. Don’t stand there rearranging the stuff in the canvas bags to make it all fit. Next time, learn the lesson of this time, and bring more… or take the plastic bags!

I felt so bad for the girl behind the register. She couldn’t communicate with this woman, though even if they had spoken the same language the screaming kids made it hard to think, let alone talk. She couldn’t get her to accept the plastic bags. By the time it was resolved, the girl behind the register looked as angry as I did. It’s unusual for Wal-Mart cashiers, they normally have that “Wal-Mart devoured my soul” look about them. They normally couldn’t care less. This girl looked like she might chase that woman down and bludgeon her. I know what that looks like, I had the exact same look on my face, or at least, I felt like I did.

Not sure what I should have expected from Wal-Mart. I mean, I like Wal-Mart as much as the next person, but I normally go in the middle of the night. That way, instead of seeing hundreds of kids running everywhere, I just see one or two and I can avoid those ones. Ha! This time, the mom was as much of a problem as her brats. From now on, I’m only going in the middle of the night!

Gosh!! Sry to hear about all the trouble at Walmart…I so hate inconsiderate people…sounds like she was taking advantage of the language barrier…hmm wonder if there actually was one or if it was a put on to get her way. People further need to understand that their children’s screaming is NOT cute… I am a mother and didn’t allow you girls to behave that way in public and I sure woudn’t have thought it was cute….gessh!! some ppl. Not to mention the ordeal w/ the plastic bags…If she is so offended by them she could have brought them back into the store when she unloaded them….

Anyway!! I have been trying to reach you guys to wish Matt a happy B-day…but, I guess u haven’t gotten my online messages and ur phone box is full…. So call me please!!

    Love You!! Mom

Actually, I can see her logic in thinking her kids are cute, even when screaming. Reguardless of how she saw it, she can’t let her children behave that way in public, or they’ll become complete douchebags as adults.
