Ooh, Pretty… take 2!

I wrote a few weeks back about copper tiles and how I wanted to do a copper tile back-splash in the kitchen.  Well, now I’ve found something else that I want!  It’ll all have to wait until we have our own house some day, of course, but I really want one of these copper kitchen sinks!!  Not only do they look amazing, and they do look amazing, but they’re also apparently naturally antibacterial.  Who knew?!  I love how almost rustic they look.  They would be beautiful with either dark granite counter tops, or butcher block counter tops.  Oh, and wood floors, too.  I wonder if appliances come in copper finish?  I like it so much better than stainless.  This one is my favorite!

Some day, it will be mine, but for the time being… a girl can dream. :)

Old

I’m starting to feel old over here.  Yeah, at 31.  First, I keep getting email from the AARP for membership, which you can’t get at my age, now I’m inundated with both junk mail, and junk email, for life insurance.  I know everyone needs life insurance, but really?  I mean, hopefully I’ll have plenty of time to afford that later on when I have a full time job and the ability to actually do something about the fact that I’m starting to get older.  For the time being it’s just annoying.  I think this actually started happening after the hubs got life insurance, but who knows, if could be that when you reach 30 you hit some sort of old foggie mailing list.  Either way, I wish it’d stop, it’s starting to make me feel self conscious!

Dear Clutter, Go Away!

My house is such a cluttered mess!  I cannot wait until we get the floor in the office replaced and I can put my desk back in there and make a little room in the living room.  I’ve been thinking, too, that if I get the office floor fixed up I might have room to put a treadmill in there.  I think it might be more cost effective to buy a treadmill than to get the Wii Fit, but I don’t have room for a treadmill.  Of course, every time I go to Melanie’s and see that her’s folds up, it makes me think I could make room.  Then I remember that I’d probably be too lazy to fold it up every time I’m done with it and so would be tripping over it every other second.  Definitely going to think about it, I think Matt could get some use from a treadmill too, but who knows if he would use it.

For the time being, I just need to clean it up and focus on a time when it’ll be a bit better.  That time is coming, I’m so thrilled!!

BRRRR!!!

It has been absolutely freezing here!  No joke, it’s been so cold.  We love it, because it signifies the winter is good and here, but we also find ourselves more reluctant to go anywhere for the chill.  Heck, I have a hard time bringing myself to go into the laundry room it’s so cold in there!  We run the heat about 1/3 of the time, the rest of the time we’re huddling under blankets and sweaters.  In the box of goodies my mom sent me for Christmas were a pair of ballet flat house shoes, which couldn’t have come at a better moment and Matt’s gotten some good use out of the gloves he got!

I’ve been thinking that I’d like to get an electric blanket for the bed because the bedroom is the first room to get super hot and super cold.  If we turn on the heater when one of us are sleeping in there, the person sleeping boils.  Likewise, we turn into popsicles in there with the air on.  There’s simply no good balance.  Unfortunately, when I started looking at what electric blankets cost, I nearly choked.  You know those things are like $80 for a double?!  And that’s at Wal-Mart!  No way am I paying that for a blanket.

I’m thinking instead about looking into getting a heated mattress pads.  They’re about as much as the blanket, but they go under you, rather than over you like a blanket.  The way blankets get messed up on our bed, a heated blanket would be absolutely pointless, making it even less likely that I’d bother to spend what they cost to get one.  The heated mattress pads, though, would actually stay put and keep me warm!

Definitely going to talk to Matt about it, though I doubt he’ll consent.  He gets really warm when he sleeps, even when it’s 32 degrees and the heater’s off.  So, for him to agree to something like this, he’d probably have to be out of his mind.  Since he’s not, it’s not a likely purchase for us, but that doesn’t make me want to get it any less.  Also, the winter is like a month and a half here and it’ll start to get back into the 70′s, rendering the cost of the thing sort of unnecessary.  Texas is so charming… no really.
